And speaking of masks, engineers and scientists are working hard to find new ways of developing high tech protective masks. 3D printing is one of the ways to cope with the mask shortage.  For example, Netherlands-based Ultimaker announced that they would be making their international network of 3D printing centers, experts and designers available to all hospitals lacking medical tools that can be quickly produced using 3D printing via Ultimaker.com. Experts are also racing to simple, robust and scalable ventilators.

Every day, radiologists have to diagnose an increasing number of patients whose lungs are infected with the Coronavirus. To help radiologists quickly recognize the virus’ patterns, Singapore-based company Lifetrack Medical System decided to open its LifeSys digital platform to the public to create a global repository of COVID-19 positive chest CT cases.

Another tech company seizing some opportunity amidst this pandemic is French company Tesalys which has exported its first machine to Beijing for the on-site treatment of at-risk medical waste. It will send up to 50 machines over the next six months.
