As EMO Hannover celebrates its 50th anniversary, the global machine tool industry is at a turning point.

Innovation is accelerating, supply chains are shifting, and the geopolitical landscape is forcing manufacturers to rethink everything from automation to energy use.

That’s why the EMO Hannover World Tour stop in Paris earlier this year was more than just a celebration - it was a strategic checkpoint for industrial decision-makers preparing for the 2025 edition.

Organized in the elegant setting of Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme Hotel, the roundtable brought together key industry voices to discuss what’s at stake. Hosted by Camille Rustici, Chief Editor of the DirectIndustry e-magazine, the session featured:

From the future of manufacturing to the rise of AI, these industry leaders offered their unfiltered insights on why EMO Hannover 2025 will be a must-attend event for manufacturers, OEMs, integrators, and innovators alike.

“It’s no longer just about machines. It’s about the entire ecosystem - from software to sustainability to strategic sourcing," noted Thierry Bouchaud from Siemens France.

Here are the main highlights of this one-and-a-half-hour roundtable:

  1. A historical perspective: EMO Hannover was first launched in Paris in 1975. Fifty years later, its influence on the global machine tool sector remains unmatched.
  2. The theme for 2025 is "Innovate Manufacturing. With topics such as automation, AI integration, energy efficiency, and digital twins, EMO 2025 will demonstrate how advanced manufacturing is a connected, intelligent system.
  3. Problems to be addressed: From talent shortages and geopolitical instability to reducing the carbon footprint, the discussion highlighted how manufacturers must evolve, and quickly.
  4. The power of physical trade shows: Although digital marketing continues to grow, the speakers emphasized that real business still happens in person. As Hartwig von Saß put it: "You can't stream a handshake."
